Scientists created new antibody to combat breast cancer

Researchers at Professor Nicholas Tonks' laboratory have identified an antibody that can suppress the activity of an enzyme called PTPRD, which is overexpressed in some breast tumors. The antibody binds to the enzyme and brings together pairs of PTPRD proteins, rendering them inactive and leading to their destruction. This discovery has the potential to provide a therapeutic treatment for breast cancer by controlling PTP activity and reducing the invasiveness of cancer cells.
