Namibia fossil is a prehistoric 'swamp thing' with menacing fangs

Gaiasia jennyae, a unique Permian predator found in Namibia, lived 280 million years ago. Jason Pardo from the Field Museum detailed its skull, suction technique, and fangs. Situated near Antarctica, it evolved from stem tetrapods during the ice age. The discovery, honoring paleontologist Jenny Clack, was published in Nature. Dimetrodon was another notable Permian creature.
