Scientists at IISc have found that by reducing the thickness of the piezoelectric ceramic PZT from 0.7mm to 0.2mm, its ability to deform significantly increases. They also discovered manufacturing defects, specifically oxygen vacancies, affecting performance. This breakthrough paves the way for better lead-free piezoelectric materials, enhancing various devices dependent on them.
